Take a look at the descriptions below and email bikesantafe@gmail.com to let us know which one you’d like to get involved with!

Communications

The main purpose of the Communications Committee is to share information about Bike Santa Fe with our members and others through monthly emails, social media posts, and updates to our website. We aim to have ongoing communication via these platforms in order to spread news and details about events, local advocacy opportunities, and education. We want Bike Santa Fe to be a transmitter of all things bike-related in our community!

Chair: Aria Chiodo

Advocacy

The Advocacy Committee exists to advocate for changes that improve safety and convenience for all bicyclists in Santa Fe. We do this by raising awareness of bike-related issues to city, county, and other public officials, as well as the general public. Examples of Advocacy Committee tasks include participating in BPAC meetings, pushing for funding for bike-related infrastructure in the city budget, and tracking progress with infrastructure planning and construction.

Chairs: Becky Smith and Dan Young

Events

The Events Committee is responsible for: organizing and running Bike Santa Fe events, such as member parties, films, speakers, and whatever creative ideas are generated; providing bike valet services at community events such as IFAM and Zozobra; promoting Bike Santa Fe at events like Bike Month and Santa Fe Century. All of these activities are important to foster connection, engagement and diversity, not to mention fun, in the Santa Fe biking community. Come join in the adventure!

Chair: Shelley Morey-Sloan

Education

The goal of the Education Committee is to educate people of all ages and abilities in the Santa Fe Community by increasing the number of certified cycling instructors; acquiring and improving the skills and confidence needed to ride including through youth and adult bicycle-safety education; ensuring that both motorists and cyclists are aware of their rights and responsibilities on the road; and educating ourselves and the community on the various opportunities and incentives for the public to get on their bikes, including promoting National Bike Month, Bike to Work Day, community rides and more!
