Bike Santa Fe Annual Bike Swap Starts the Bike Season Rolling
Bike Santa Fe Bike Swap is the traditional start of the bicycling season. With 9 successful years behind us, the swap will again be the lead off event for Santa Fe Bike Week set for May 9th-17th, 2020.. Postponed until Fall 2020. Date TBD
After you’ve brushed up on skills and built more confidence with an August 2020 Smart Cycling class, it will be the first event on the re-scheduled Bike Week calendar- combining with the week-long series of great bike activities, we think the Bike Swap will be even better. This year we’ve recruited a team to offer a basic flat fixing / chain lubing station to get you out on your ride! Bigger repairs will be recommended to local shops.
Riders from Santa Fe and Albuquerque flock to St Michael’s Village to score some of the best deals to be found anywhere on used bikes, gear and clothing for cyclists of all ages and ability levels.
Vendors including top local bike stores offer great deals on a wide range of products to be cleared out before the new season. Score!
School PTAs are welcome to gather outgrown kids gear and sign up for a table as a fundraiser. Recycle!
“Anyone with old bike gear that has been outgrown, or is just cluttering up a shed, knows they can take it over to the swap and let someone else breath new life into their old gear…while getting a little cash back in the process.” said BSF president Gary Schiffmiller.
As in previous years, early arrivals were able to find virtually new, top of the line gear sold for ridiculously low prices. A wide range of kids’ gear that had been outgrown was bought and sold, ready to be passed on to a new generation of riders. We hope to repeat the Helmets for Kids giveaway in partnership with the Brain Injury Council of NM and Santa Fe Public Schools Sustainability Education Team.
